We are all motivated by two basic forces – love and fear.
Love opens us to the passion and excitement that love has to offer, while fear causes us to withdraw from life and hide away, terrified of hurt and pain.
Fear is holding you back from tackling life and living it to the fullest.
It can stop you in your tracks and keep you from chasing your dreams, and often we don’t even realise what fears are haunting us.
We are terrified of failing, of losing love, of being lonely, of having to change and we’re scared of the unknown, too. We are veritable cowardly lions.
While there is a time and place for fear and it often protects us from truly dangerous experiences, they can also be destructive.
With these six steps, you can put fear to one side and start living your life to the fullest.
What do you really want?
Before you can make the most of your life, you need to know what it is you actually want?
What goals do you really want to achieve?
When you get clear on what you want, you can shift your focus to your priorities. What’s going to move the needle forward?
Just knowing isn’t enough, though, you need to recognise potential and understand how to leverage them to move you closer to those goals.
Get prepared
Yes, there are plenty of amazing opportunities out there just waiting for you to grab them.
Not everyone can leverage all of them, but the biggest reason you can’t is a failure to prepare.
You should be prepared mentally for any eventuality, have the knowledge and the skills necessary to make the most of any opportunity that comes your way.
What do you need to get in order? If you are starting a business, maybe you want to have contracts ready to go.
If you want to sell your home, you need to start decluttering.
If you are trying to manifest a relationship, put time aside in your calendar for date nights.
Join Groups of Like-Minded People
If you don’t know how to get what you want, you can connect with others who can help you.
Connecting with other people is essential to unlocking everything life has to offer. No one can do this on their own. We need our support peeps. Our cheerleaders who are always on our side – but can also lovingly call us out on our own BS.
So many opportunities can come through your network. They might know someone who knows someone who offers you an amazing job opportunity, or sells your home, or introduces you to that cute guy in IT.
Connecting with other people is key!
Ask Questions
Opportunities don’t come from nowhere, a lot of the time they will be subtle.
Question everything and go a layer deeper to think creatively. Look at your life from every possible angle. If you are feeling stuck in an area of your life, journal about it and see what comes up. Keep asking, why do I feel like that? Then when you get an answer ask again, why is that? Keep asking until you get to the core of your problem.
Your curiosity could be the key to unlocking opportunities.
Recognise Opportunities
Your perfect life is not going to land on your lap gift-wrapped. The best opportunities in life are often completely unexpected and disguised as something else entirely.
This is why asking questions is important, but it’s equally as important that you are able to recognise the opportunities when they show up.
It’s so easy for our Ego to say ‘You can’t do that. You are not smart enough. You are not good enough. You don’t know how to do that…” etc etc
So we dismiss our intuition as talking nonsense and who are we to follow our dreams and life an amazing life? Our Ego wants us to be safe. If we don’t take those opportunities when they come up, we won’t get rejected or abandoned.
Take Risks
Not just any risk, though, calculated risks.
When you recognise an opportunity and understand how to take advantage of it then you need to LEAP. When you leap, you take a chance, even if you are uncertain about the outcome.
There are no guarantees in life; it is what you make it.
You can use these six steps in business and in your personal life, the truth is that they’re more alike than we care to admit.
The key to unlocking your happiness and seizing everything life has to offer is fully within your power.
You just have to grab everything that comes your way and learn to practice gratitude for everything you achieve.
